Telemedicine for Stroke Project

Telemedicine for Stroke Project

Coordinator: Prof. Dr. Jefferson G Fernandes

This project aimed to support hospitals operating within the Unified Health System (SUS) in developing qualified care for patients with acute stroke, through a training program and specialized second opinion training, using telemedicine.

It aims to contribute to the training of selected hospitals, with an open emergency room for patients with acute stroke, as well as to the qualification of hospitals as Emergency Care Centres for Patients with Stroke, at their various levels, including the development of new telemedicine centres.

In this video, I share details about this telemedicine project. We show the impact of stroke and the need for better care for patients in the acute phase. We present how this project was built and executed, as well as the impressive results we achieved between 2012 and 2015. It is crucial to understand the benefits that telemedicine can bring and consider how we can expand this approach to improve care for stroke patients.
